Botox
Why do we get wrinkles and how does Botox work?
Everyone gets wrinkles; some more than others. The main reason for wrinkle development is the repeated wearing effects of facial expressions over many years.
Botox was first developed in the 1970’s and is now used for multiple conditions, including excessive sweating and muscle spasm. It’s use in the aesthetics industry has sky rocketed in recent years.
Botox essentially helps stop some of the muscles, that we would use for facial expressions (e.g. to frown or squint) from contracting and keep them in a more relaxed state.
Why Botox and not other anti-wrinkle injections?
There are many cheaper anti-wrinkle injections in the industry today, however the prescription-only Botox has been around the longest, and is the most studied. Both our clients and Dr Chris, think that Botox achieves the best results.
In an attempt to make more profit out of Botox, some companies will dilute the product with water. There is simply no diluting of Botox at Boyson Healthcare.
How is Botox priced?
Many companies do not reveal their prices until enquiring or at consultation, however we like to be up front with our customers, so they know exactly how much it is going to cost them; plus we are rather proud of our prices too!
Our price structure is dependent on the number of areas you would like treated. Each area requires a certain amount of Botox, depending on your needs. The three areas on the face include:
Frown lines – the deep lines just above your eyes and the top of your nose that can be seen when you frown.
Crow’s feet – multiple light to deep lines, just beyond the corner of the outside of your eye, seen when your eyes are open, but more pronounced if your eyes are closed tightly; so called because their imprint looks like a crow’s foot.
Horizontal forehead lines – deep multiple parallel lines on your forehead, which become more pronounced if you raise your eyebrows.
1 area: £140
2 areas: £185
3 areas: £220
One area includes both sides of the face in the area, to achieve symmetry.
The photo of the model depicts where the wrinkles have all but disappeared after treatment.
Males require much more Botox due to the higher muscle content, therefore a £50
supplement is required.
Dr Chris will only treat three areas on the face; frown lines, crow’s feet and horizontal
forehead lines; as these are the most common and safest areas people want treating. Many providers will try and ‘dabble’ in multiple different areas and services. By concentrating on these three safe areas Dr Chris has become an expert in this practice.

What’s involved in the procedure?
After going through a health check and discussing your needs we will run through the consent form with you to ensure you are happy to proceed.
We will identify and mark the specific areas on the face that require treatment.
Photographs will be taken to help demonstrate the improvement after treatment.
No topical anesthetic is needed because the needle we use is so fine. The size of the needle is equivalent to that of a vaccination jab or a baby needle.
Using a sterile approach, we inject Botox into the areas we identified.
This whole process takes around 20-30 minutes.
Do I need to do anything before/after the procedure?
We ask that you wear no (or minimal) make up on the day to help prevent infection.
Try to avoid strenuous exercise, lifting weights, laying flat immediately after treatment. Maintaining a neutral face (lack of facial expressions), for a few hours after treatment will help keep the Botox where it is meant to be, and not leak out into other muscles.
How long does the treatment last?
It does vary from person to person, but on average about 4-6 months, with the full effects of Botox being seen in around 1-2 weeks after treatment.
Are there any potential side effects?
Most clients tolerate Botox well.
As with any injection of any kind, local injection site bruising, tenderness and infection can occur, which should all settle after a couple of days and can be disguised with make up.
Some clients feel minimal discomfort during the injections. An uncommon side effect is where the eyelids or eyebrows can droop causing a slight lazy eye appearance; if this rare event occurred, it would disappear as the Botox wears off, and medication can be given to help minimise this effect. See our consent form for more details.
You should seek medical advice immediately if you are concerned about any potential side effects.
